What our graduates say

Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre gave me the opportunity to perform from a very early age which has meant I have always felt at home onstage. I was also lucky enough to be trained in many different styles and genres of dance which has given me the upper hand in situations where I have needed to be versatile in the professional world.

Carine Roberts - Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre

Being part of Gail Meade is the reason I am the dancer I am today. I was lucky enough to complete my Bachelor of Arts (Dance) at WAAPA after being a student at Gail Meade’s for 13 years. I have always been told that I am a strong dancer and that is thanks to my training, training that has made me a versatile dancer. In today’s world of dance, being versatile is incredibly important and that is the type of dancer you will become if you study at Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre.

Evelyn Roberts
Paulette Carson Scholarship at WAAPA

Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre was my first insight into the delights of enjoyment that I felt, dancing with my friends. Being able to use my imagination and move to music was my favourite thing to do in the week.

As I got older, the school helped build my foundations in all the styles I could’ve possibly learnt, aiding my diversity as an artist. Along with the many dance styles, I was also exposed to the world of musical theatre through singing and tap classes, where I learnt about musicality and it’s importance in the performing arts.

The school offered me the opportunity to participate in exams and compete with and against my peers that lead to my understanding for healthy competition and a strong sense of performance. I was taught the discipline, etiquette and conventions of work ethic as an individual and a team member.

Before moving to Melbourne I trained at Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre for 9 years. Training here was an amazing experience for me because the teachers made the environment so exciting and welcoming. To work with the teachers at Gail Meade and have them push me to where I am today is something I will never forget. The technique and performance quality that they put into training has pushed me to become the dancer I am. They have inspired me to be a disciplined and hardworking dancer and now attending full time training in Melbourne this has come through in how i push myself everyday.

I am very proud to say that I trained at Gail Meade and will always be Team GM.

What our students’ parents have to say

I started dancing at Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre when I was 3 years old. I couldn’t imagine spending my 20 years of dance any other way. The incredible teaching staff has definitely shaped the person I am today. Now, as a Mum, I feel so lucky to give my 2 girls the same experience. Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre isn’t just a dance school. Students are exposed to such talented teachers who not only know the world of dance better than anyone, but also provide such strong values and principles for students to aspire to.

What a wonderful example Gail has been to my two daughters from the age 3 (they are now 39 and 32) not only as a dance teacher but also as a person whose demeanour and caring has carried through to her daughters and staff who teach for her. We now have 2 grand daughters attending and maybe in 2 years our newest grand daughter of 2 days. Our girls all grew up together remaining friends in to adulthood. Best teacher and teachers of any dance school in Perth.

Watching your child doing what they love and feeling excited about their dance training is what every dance parent wishes for their child, this is what GMPAC has provided for us. The quality facilities, highly qualified teaching staff and excellent training make this studio one of the best. The friendly atmosphere provides opportunities for both dancers and parents to form friends for life. Whether dancing for fun or training for exams and competitions GMPAC provides it all.

My daughter attended GMPAC for 12 years and during those years she went from a little girl who loved to skip around the dance studio to a confident, highly trained dancer, teacher & choreographer who is now employed in Europe earning a living doing what she loves!! GMPAC teachers are some of the best in the business, and whether you want to dance for fun or for quality technical training, they are able to bring out the best in their students.

I grew up dancing at Gail Meade and when I had two daughters of my own, I made no hesitation in to sending them to Gail Meade as well. The same love, dedication and fun that I had experienced 30 years earlier was still there, and my girls love it just as much as I did. The teaching staff are amazing, the routines are beautiful and the school itself is truly one-of-a-kind.  The lifelong friendships that I’ve made with my Gail Meade friends I can see my girls developing with their dancing friends too. There truly is no better dancing school in Perth.

I danced with Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre from the age of 2 until I was 22! I always loved the caring & supportive environment that made you feel more a part of a family than just a dancing school.  Dance with GMPAC gave me the opportunity to express myself with creativity and confidence. I made lifelong friends & now our children are enjoying the same experiences together that we did & I’m loving watching their friendships & love of dance grow. I drive all the way from south of the river to make sure my daughter doesn’t miss out on the opportunity to be taught by the most talented, respected & kindest teachers i know.

My daughter has been dancing at GMPAC since 2011. She has loved every minute of her time there…the studio has such a friendly and happy feel to it. From the gorgeous ladies at the front desk, to the cafe, to the teachers, all the helpers and of course the mums.
The calibre of teaching honestly is second to none. Every teacher at the studio encourages each child to be the best they can be, teaching them correct technique whilst having fun and fostering the love of dance from an early age. There are a huge range of classes to get involved in including adult classes which are a great workout and a good laugh! You can get involved as much and as little as you like but the highlight of the year, without a doubt, is the end of year concert. It really showcases the enormous talent we have at GMPAC!
We wouldn’t be anywhere else – it’s like one big family!

It has been my privilege to have been associated with the Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre for over 35 years, first as a parent of two girls who danced and now as a Grandparent.
I have seen this school under the direction of the Principal, Gail Meade grow from a few classes in Church halls and RSL Halls to the amazing facility that is GMPAC in Wangara. However in its growth the school has never lost the personal touch and the value on families. The absolute passion for dance from the Principal right down through all the talented teachers reflects in the students.
On most days Gail is always on hand, never too busy to stop and chat or to explain anything to new parents. Her teachers reflect her high standards and they all have earned  the respect of all parents and pupils.
There is no where else I would want my children or grandchildren to learn to dance.

My daughter began dancing at Gail Meade in 2013 and instantly felt at home. The combination of the experienced, qualified and caring teachers, efficient and friendly admin staff and a wonderful group of dance parents and students make the studio a happy place to be. Her progress and improvement is clear to see but most importantly she still has her love of dance and has made so many treasured friendships.
